Got Questions? Everything You Might Be Wondering
Beginning care shouldn’t feel confusing. Below are answers to the most common questions about appointments, insurance, and our one-on-one treatment approach. We believe clarity reduces stress, and we’re here to make your next step feel straightforward.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy movement and access to the area being treated. If you have any imaging (x-rays, MRI, CT scans) or reports, please bring them as well. If you’ve been given a physical therapy prescription, bring that too — though it’s not required to begin care.
Do I need a doctor’s prescription for physical therapy?
No. According to New York State law, you can see a licensed physical therapist for up to 30 days or 10 visits without a doctor’s prescription. However, some insurance plans do require a prescription for reimbursement, so check with your insurer if you intend to submit claims.
What should I expect from treatment?
All treatments at Kfmt are one-on-one and 60 minutes long, allowing time for a full discussion of your needs, targeted hands-on care, and movement retraining. Your first session includes a comprehensive, full-body analysis — often revealing contributing issues you may not have noticed. Follow-up visits focus more on treatment progression, reassessment, and measurable improvement. Our approach is called Functional Manual Therapy®, a specialized whole-body method that blends manual care with movement education.
I’m not sure if Functional Manual Therapy is right for me — do you offer consultations?
Yes. We offer complimentary 30 minute consultations to help you learn more about the Functional Manual Therapy® approach and whether Physical Therapy may benefit you. To schedule a consult, contact our front desk by phone at 212-463-8338 or email info@kinectedcenter.com.
These consultations depend on therapist availability and are meant to inform you — not replace a full evaluation.
Do you accept insurance?
KFMT is an out-of-network provider for insurance plans that offer out-of-network benefits. You will pay for each visit at the time of service and we will submit your superbill to your insurance for reimbursement (you may also ask for a superbill and submit the claim yourself). Patients are responsible for following up with their insurer regarding if they have out-of-network benefits, deductibles and % reimbursement or any claim denials.
How much does treatment cost?
Each 60-minute session is $335. In you do not have out-of-network benefits or the out of pocket cost is too high, flexible rates (sliding scale) are available. Patients with out-of-network benefits receive a superbill that can be submitted for possible reimbursement of a portion of the visit cost.
How do you integrate physical therapy with Pilates and GYROTONIC services at Kinected?
At the start of your care, we assess structural, strength, and postural patterns to create an appropriate plan. Your plan may include training with Pilates or GYROTONIC staff at Kinected right away or transition gradually as your injury improves. Throughout your care, we communicate with your Pilates or GYROTONIC instructor to align goals and share clinical findings so both your rehabilitation and movement training remain coordinated and effective.
Do you treat my condition?
Yes — KFMT is a generalist practice trained to evaluate and treat all body regions and conditions. Whether it’s acute injury, chronic pain, post-surgical rehab, or performance-related limitations, we tailor care to your needs.
